Primarily Zantac, an over-the-counter (OTC) medication that is used to relieve or prevent heartburn, treat ulcers and to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).

Ranitidine is the drug in Zantac that has been used to relieve the symptoms mentioned above.
Who issued the recall?
The FDA announced voluntary recalls on this drug made by two different manufacturers, Sandoz Inc and Apotex Corp. You can read about each of the recalls on the FDA website.
Why is Zantac (Ranitidine) being recalled?
The FDA found unexpected levels of N-Nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA) in the products. NDMA is a known carcinogen.
